FINANCES AND DEALING WITH BANKS

The lawyers and financial consultants in our team have the necessary expertise and knowledge of the market to help you apply for a Housing Loan (Mortgage) here in Greece, should you require this service. They can also provide information about funds transfer and currency exchange.

Housing Loans are available in Greece for up to 100% of the property value and many Greek banks and other financial institutions offer these (and also other loans). Our lawyers and financial consultants can, for a small fee, help you to complete all the necessary documentation and even make application to the bank on your behalf. We cannot, however, guarantee that your application will be accepted, as this will depend on the bank’s conditions and whether or not you meet these.

Alternatively, you can arrange a second mortgage or loan in the UK, or an off-shore mortgage.

Banks are usually open from 8am to 2pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1:30pm on Friday. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday. However, the opening times of individual banks may vary, as may those of individual branches of the same bank!

Greek banks have improved a great deal over the last few years but some people still find them very slow compared to their other European counterparts.

It is fairly easy to open an account in Greece but much easier to do so in person than from the UK. It is always handy to have a Greek account if you are living or have a property in Greece.
