Lakka is the second village of Paxos and boasts a beautiful and very popular harbour for yachts visiting the island. It is also a popular destination for people who like a bit more nightlife than that available in Loggos, without having discos or too much of it.

FACILITIES:

1. Supermarkets:
There are a number of supermarkets in the village which stock a good range of food and other everyday items.

2. Other shops:
Although there are not a great number of shops in the village, there is a bakery, a number of craft and clothes shops, a jewellers and a few tourist shops selling various souvenirs of Paxos.

3. Tavernas:
Lakka has a number of tavernas, mostly Greek, but there are some Italian restaurants and others offering a fair selection of different types of cuisine.

4. Bars & Kafenios:
There are a number of bars and music bars staying open until late in Lakka for those who want some nightlife.

5. Exchange:
There is an ATM in Lakka and you can change cash or travellers cheques at one of the travel offices in the village. Most shops and tavernas now take credit card payments.

6. Churches:
There is an Orthodox church in the village.

7. Sports:
There are boats for hire from the harbour whilst swimming, snorkelling and fishing are popular pastimes here, along with the most popular of all - people-watching!

8. Beaches:
Lakka has a couple of lovely beaches, one with watersports. Whilst other beaches on Paxos are shingle, the one in Lakka is actually sandy once you are in the sea making it very popular for younger children. It also shelves gradually and therefore is much safer than many.

9. Transport:
If you don’t have your own car, you can hire one so that you are free to get around as you please. Otherwise you may think about hiring a boat or a scooter. Public transport is provided by the air-conditioned coach which runs around the island several times a day linking the main villages of Gaios, Lakka and Loggos. There are also a number of taxis available and the taxi drivers are happy to give guided tours. But the best way to see the island is on foot.
