Of the three main villages on the island of Paxos, Loggos is the smallest. A small fishing harbour with a pretty jetty, the location is idyllic. The number of photographs taken of this small village must be immense and it has also provided the perfect location for filming traditional Greek scenes. It is a dream village on an extremely pretty island.

FACILITIES:

1. Supermarkets:
There are a number of supermarkets in the village which stock a good range of food and other everyday items.

2. Other shops:
Although there are not many shops in the village there is a bakery, a craft shop, a jewellers, gift shops and a DIY/hardware shop.

3. Tavernas:
Loggos for its size has a fair number of tavernas. They are easy to find as the village is so small and serve a wide range of different types of cuisine.

4. Bars and Kafenios:
There are a few 'bars' and kafenios in Loggos, but it is a fairly peaceful village and there is no sign of a disco.

5. Exchange:
There are no ATMs in Loggos but you can change cash or travellers cheques at one of the travel offices in the village. Most shops and tavernas now take credit card payments.

6. Churches:
There is an Orthodox church in the main square of the village.

7. Sports:
There are boats for hire from the harbour and a football pitch at the back of the village. Swimming, snorkelling and fishing are popular pastimes here, along with the most popular of all - people-watching!

8. Beaches:
There is plenty of choice here. Paxos has some lovely shingle beaches and from Loggos you can reach a number of these on foot. There is a small area for swimming in the harbour and a further very small beach on the way out towards Gaios, but the main beaches and the prettiest are tucked away. The first beach as you head south is the beautiful beach of Levrekio where there is a taverna, whilst if you carry on (by foot) you soon reach the second beach of Marmari set in a beautiful bay. After Marmari is Kipos and then the long beach of Kipiadi. All these beaches with their clear seas are excellent for swimming and snorkelling.

9. Transport:
If you don’t have your own car, you can hire one so that you are free to get around as you please. Otherwise you may think about hiring a boat or a scooter. Public transport is provided by the air-conditioned coach which runs around the island several times a day linking the main villages of Gaios, Lakka and Loggos. There are also a number of taxis available and the taxi drivers are happy to give guided tours. But the best way to see the island is on foot.
